Empowering a Ugandan Charity with a Purpose-Built Website to Inspire Donations and Support

A Website Designed to Make a Difference

I built this website for FNKD (Friends of North Kizi District), a UK-based charity that has been working for over a decade to support orphaned and abandoned children in North Kizi, Uganda.

Project Overview

The charity needed a new online presence completed at pace, as there was an opportunity to feature their website in a reprint of local restaurant menus that had already been helping to raise donations. The main priorities were to reassure existing donors, make online donations as simple as possible, and create a credible platform to encourage new supporters to get involved.

The original logo was of low resolution and quality, so our designer in Cambridge re-built the logo from scratch.

The main priority was to reassure existing and potential donors that their contributions were secure and would be spent on the charity’s most important needs and priorities. At the same time, the site needed to make donating simple and straightforward.

A second planning meeting helped clarify the charity’s objectives and refine the requirements. Alongside designing and building the site, Andy addressed all the subtleties and nuances of search engine optimisation to help FNKD gain visibility online. The website was built on WordPress with robust security and safeguarding measures, especially for the integrated PayPal donation button.

Ongoing digital technical support is being provided at no additional charge, and the annual hosting fees have also been waived to ensure more resources remain available for the charity’s work.

It was absolutely rewarding to build this website and become involved both technically and emotionally.

This is going to be a great project for many years to come, and we hope to see additional donations, support, and other people becoming involved with the FNKD trustees and the charity itself.

Thank you Prockie

I love what I do, and to help a genuine organisation that does so much, is so rewarding. To receive this gift card nearly broke me!
